Summary: Annual Meeting of the ISOs on Future Market Design and Software Enhancements (Washington, DC)
Description: The purpose of the meeting is for RTOs and ISOs to share ideas about future market designs and necessary software enhancements with each other and Commission staff. This meeting will focus on the how voltage control and reactive power dispatch are included in and affect the day-ahead and real-time markets. To begin the meeting, each RTO and ISO is asked to give a 40 minute presentation on its current approach to voltage control and reactive power and future plans for software enhancements in that area. The meeting will include ample time for discussion of the presentations.

Questions to be addressed include: How are reactive power and voltage constraints accounted for in the day-ahead market and real-time market? How are voltage profiles determined? How much of current RMR costs are for voltage control or other voltage stability constraints? What are the potential savings associated with solving the ACOPF problem in the day-ahead and real-time markets? How are D-curve tradeoffs between real and reactive power accounted for and compensated?
