FERC's Dispute Resolution Service Gets New Home
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Neil Chatterjee today announced a new home for FERC’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC).
“This move to OGC will give DRS higher visibility, an expansion of opportunities to use dispute resolution and more effective use of FERC resources,” Chairman Chatterjee said. “It is a win-win for everyone.”
The DRS staff are professional mediators trained in dispute prevention, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques. DRS uses ADR tools to assist parties in resolving disputes related to matters under FERC’s jurisdiction. The DRS staff also educate and train audiences on ADR techniques and conflict management skills. In addition, the DRS staff manages the Commission’s Landowner Helpline, providing landowners with a dedicated helpline to get information and resolve disputes regarding FERC-jurisdictional natural gas and hydropower facilities.
DRS was previously housed in the Office of the Administrative Law Judges.
