We’re No. 1! FERC Rated ‘Best Place to Work’ in Federal Employee Survey

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today was named “Best Place to Work” among mid-sized federal agencies for 2019, the Partnership for Public Service announced today.

FERC, which over the past several years has ranked among the top five mid-sized federal agencies in the annual survey, was also honored for excellence in the subcomponent category, which rates offices or departments in the federal government. FERC’s Office of General Counsel was ranked No. 2, and FERC’s Office of the Executive Director was ranked No. 4, in that category.

“It is such an honor, and a pleasure, to serve with the talented and dedicated employees here at the Commission,” Chairman Neil Chatterjee said. “This ‘Best Places to Work’ recognition is an amazing achievement that reflects a sustained level of excellence on everyone’s part, and I commend all those who made it possible. I particularly want to recognize General Counsel James Danly and Executive Director Anton Porter, and their staffs, for their leadership and excellence.”

FERC ranked first among 23 mid-sized federal agencies in work-life balance, training and development, and effective supervisory leadership. The Commission saw significant improvement over last year’s ratings in training and development, effective supervisory leadership, and support for diversity.

The Partnership for Public Service’s 2019 “Best Places to Work” rankings are derived from the views of employees from 490 federal agencies and subcomponents, the most in the history of the rankings. This includes 17 large federal agencies, 25 midsize agencies, 28 small agencies and 420 subcomponents. The majority of the data used to develop the Best Places to Work rankings comes from the Office of Personnel Management’s annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, administered April through June 2019 to permanent executive branch employees.
