FOIA – Privacy Act
Under FOIA any person has the right to request public access to federal agency records or information. The agency must release the records upon receiving a written request unless the records fall within the nine exemptions and three exclusions outlined in the Act. The objectives of the Privacy Act are to restrict disclosure of personally identifiable records maintained by Federal agencies, grant individuals rights of access to agency records maintained on themselves, grant individuals the right to seek amendment of agency records maintained on themselves, and to require agencies to comply with statutory norms for collection, maintenance, and dissemination of records. Our FOIA service center can assist you with your FOIA and Privacy Act requests. Read More about the FOIA Service Center, FOIA Guide and Privacy Act requests.
