Safety and Inspections

Once Natural Gas pipeline projects become operational, safety is regulated, monitored, and enforced by the Department of Transportation. To report safety problems on pipelines, please visit the Department of Transportation's Office of Pipeline Safety.

For Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects under FERC’s jurisdiction, the Division of LNG Facility Inspection & Reviews (DLNG) perform safety and reliability inspections throughout construction and operations. Much of the information regarding Safety & Inspections of Natural Gas Pipelines is classified as Critical Energy Infrastructure Information (CEII).

Recognizing that recovery from a gas emergency will call for actions and authorizations by entities other than the FERC, we are providing the following list of contacts to facilitate communication with relevant authorities that will need to be involved in responding to an emergency.
