Robert Solomon serves as the FERC Solicitor, in charge of defending the agency’s actions in court, primarily in the U.S. Court of Appeals. See https://www.ferc.gov/court-cases. Attorneys in the Solicitor’s Office, within the larger Office of the General Counsel, file written pleadings and present oral arguments on behalf of the Commission. Mr. Solomon personally has presented argument to three-judge appellate panels, in all circuit courts, over 70 times.
Mr. Solomon has served as FERC Solicitor since 2005. He previously held other positions at the Commission, in both a litigation and advisory role, and served Commissioners Bailey and Hebert. Prior to joining FERC, Mr. Solomon was an associate attorney at a D.C.-based law firm.
Mr. Solomon is an adjunct professor of law, teaching energy law to students at George Washington Law School. He also has taught energy law at American University, Washington College of Law. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.) and Washington University School of Law (in St. Louis, MO).
Bob and his wife Nancy live in Silver Spring, Maryland, and are proud parents of three adult children.
