Docket No. ER25-2476-000

I concur in this order accepting SPP’s proposal to allow new generation to request interim interconnection service when the Definitive Interconnection System Impact Study (DISIS) queue cluster window is closed.  I write separately simply to highlight the benefits of this common-sense step to bring new generation onto the SPP grid faster, and call on other transmission providers to consider solutions like this.

Currently, SPP’s next interconnection queue application window will not open to new requests until April 1, 2026.  The proposal we accept today allows interconnection customers to submit interim interconnection requests as much as six months early, get studied, and enable them to connect to the grid faster than they otherwise would under the current rules. Readily accessible interim interconnection service is yet another tool in the toolbox that can enable more megawatts to connect to the grid now.

It is critically important that grid operators continually look for ways to refine the efficiency and speed with which new generation can connect to the grid, especially as our country faces growing power needs to win the global AI race, re-shore manufacturing, and keep electricity affordable for everyday consumers.

For these reasons, I respectfully concur.
