Michael McLaughlin is the Deputy Director of the Office of Energy Policy and Innovation at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  He has worked at FERC since 2003 and has held multiple positions within three Offices, most recently Director of the Division of Economics and Technical Analysis from 2015-2022.

Prior to joining FERC, Michael worked in PJM’s Market Monitoring Unit from 1999 to 2003 supporting electric market design efforts, and in the Economic Research Department at the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank from 1996-1999.

Michael graduated from Goucher College in 1993 and received a MS in Resource Economics from the University of Rhode Island in 1996.
