Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee and the Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) of the Czech Republic, Stanislav Travnicek, met in Prague December 5 to exchange experiences and discuss challenges in cyber security and energy market operations, and increasing access to global liquefied natural gas supplies.
“Meeting with our Czech regulatory counterparts at the ERO has put the spotlight on potential opportunities as we navigate the evolving cyber security landscape,” FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee said. “We are pleased that the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Steve King, is supporting the continued collaboration between ERO and FERC to strengthen our relationship and deliver enhanced security for our societies.”
“I appreciate the possibility to welcome FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee and his colleagues in the ERO premises. The regulatory experience is much the same in many ways, even though our markets differ,” commented ERO Board Chairman Stanislav Travnicek, adding: “We discussed priorities for the energy sector in the coming period as well. I believe therefore that our cooperation might have overlaps to the future.”
The meeting was an opportunity for the regulators to share insights related to increasing competition in energy markets and improving access to energy sources.
The regulators also discussed critical cyber security challenges and best practices.
