FERC continues to coordinate with Michigan officials on investigations into the situation at the Edenville and Sanford Dams in mid-May. FERC has directed Boyce Hydro, which owns the dams in the project, including the three FERC-regulated dams (Sanford and the two upstream dams, Secord and Smallwood) and one non-jurisdictional facility (Edenville), to establish an independent investigation team to undertake a forensic analysis of the root cause of the overtopping damage to Sanford Dam as well as any other contributing causes. FERC revoked the license for Edenville in the following September 2018 revocation order.
- September, 2018 – Revocation Order
- June, 2019 – Order on rehearing of revocation order
- May 20, 2020 – Letter to Boyce Hydro
- May 26, 2020 – FERC response to Boyce’s May 22 letter
