Conference to include DAMSVR Training Session with optional Site Visit for Licensees/Exemptees

FERC’s Division of Dam Safety and Inspections-Security Branch is having a 2-day Conference for licensees/exemptees to share and discuss challenges and lessons learned from physical security enhancements at their hydropower projects.  Topics include addressing power and communication at remote sites, managing security concerns at heavily recreated sites, assessing insider threats, an unclassified threat brief, among other topics.

Day 2 will start with a training session on FERC’s Dam Assessment Matrix for Security and the Vulnerability Risk (DAMSVR) tool.  This is intended to cover concepts of the methodology, and the steps necessary to assess vulnerabilities, security effectiveness, and overall security risk at hydropower facilities on a periodic basis. In the optional afternoon session of Day 2, there will be a site visit to a Duke Power hydropower project.  Transportation will not be provided, and carpooling is strongly encouraged.  Due to logistics, this site visit will be limited to the first 50 registrants.

A detailed agenda for the event will be provided after registration is approved and at a date closer to the event.  For more information on the FERC Security Program for Hydropower Projects refer to this link.

Registration will be closed on Friday, February 28, 2025 and is limited to 75 Participants for the Conference and DAMSVR session.  The site visit is limited to 50 participants.
