FERC Chairman Announces New Personnel Appointments Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee today announced two new senior-level staff appointments.
The new appointments are:
- John Kroeger as Director, Office of Administrative Litigation. Kroeger has served at FERC since 1991, after working both in private energy law practice and for the U.S. International Trade Commission. He has been with OAL since 2011, as director of the Legal Division, where he assured high quality representation of the public interest and set strategic direction in the settlement and litigation of disputes involving rates, terms and conditions of service, market power, and other issues. He also worked in the Office of Enforcement, where he led several high-profile cases involving matters arising from the Western Energy Crisis, and led and directed investigations involving market manipulation and transparency, tariff compliance and statutory and regulatory violations. He is a graduate of The George Washington University and The George Washington University Law School, where he served as a clinical director, and earned an M.B.A., with a concentration in finance, from Johns Hopkins University.
- Eric Vandenberg as Deputy Director, Office of Energy Policy and Innovation. Vandenberg served as technical advisor to the Chairman from 2017 to 2019 with primary responsibility for wholesale electric market design, electric reliability and cybersecurity issues. He has prior experience in FERC’s Office of Energy Market Regulation and Office of Electric Reliability, and as an Acting Advisor to former Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur. He joined FERC in 2009 as an Electrical Engineer in the Office of Electric Reliability. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Master's Degree in Business Administration from Ohio University.
