Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee today announced his appointment of Andrew Satten as a FERC Administrative Law Judge. Satten first joined FERC’s Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ) in 2012.
Prior to today’s appointment, he had been serving as OALJ’s Supervisory Attorney-Adviser, a role in which he managed OALJ’s staff of attorney-advisers, law clerks, energy industry analysts and legal interns.
Since 2014, he has been an adjunct professor at The George Washington University Law School, teaching a course on energy and environmental law scholarship. Satten also was selected to and completed FERC’s Leadership Development Program, FERC’s premier initiative for developing the agency’s future leaders.
“Judge Satten’s deep understanding of energy law and his experience here at FERC make him well-suited to serve the Commission and the public,” Chairman Chatterjee said. “I appreciate his willingness to take on this new role.”
Satten is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School, where he served as the Senior Managing Editor of The George Washington Journal of Energy and Environmental Law.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a member of the Virginia Bar.
