News Release: July 28, 2015

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today posted guidance on best practices for stakeholder outreach programs for natural gas projects. The document, Suggested Best Practices for Industry Outreach Programs to Stakeholders , was prepared by FERC’s Office of Energy Projects.

The document presents common practices and highlights tools that FERC-regulated natural gas companies can use to effectively inform and engage stakeholders during the FERC review process for interstate natural gas facilities and liquefied natural gas facilities.

The manual is for reference use only; it does not constitute a new regulation that is required of FERC-regulated companies. Following any or all of the best practices outlined in it do not guarantee Commission approval for any given project.
